Dr Karlye Damaso is a Clinical Psychologist and Neuroscientist. She has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the Society of Paediatric Psychology.
Karlye’s style blends natural empathy with humour and irreverence. These attributes allow her clients to manage the direct and honest interactions necessary for helpful therapy. Karlye has strong science background which allows her to draw heavily on research from the fields of neuroscience, attachment, behaviour and learning, family systems, social psychology, and paediatric development. She has completed specialised training in cognitive behavioural therapy, behavioural therapy, and attachment therapy. Karlye has a special interest in working with paediatric populations, new mothers, and families.
As a Neuroscientist, Karlye has co-authored scientific articles in international journals. She has presented scientific research at national and international conferences. Her primary research explores how errors alter the way people make decisions and how this effects their subsequent behaviour.
Early in her career, Karlye worked and trained with noted celebrity Pediatric Psychologist Dr John Irvine. Subsequently she has participated in a range of health media (print and broadcast), professional training and education presentations, and panel discussions. Karlye has received several awards for her academic and clinical accomplishments.
